What Is The Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop

Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop provides many items and assistance to many individuals and organizations within the Stillwater community and area.  The Thrift Shop is a store manned by staff and volunteers that sells donated items of all kinds to the public for very low prices.

In addition to selling pre-owned and some new items, such as clothes, household goods, books, toys, gifts and cards, The Thrift Shop also provides huge amounts of clothing free to people in need - referred to us by local agencies, such as Domestic Violence, DHS, Red Cross, Child Welfare, Mission of Hope, and many others.

If you would like to contribute any items or merchandise to The Thrift Shop, please contact The Thrift Shop at 504 West Third, Stillwater, Oklahoma, or call 405-377-8765.

How Does Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop Operate

Even though the Thrift Shop is a Ministry of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Thrift Shop has its own government and elects its own officers through its volunteers and staff members.

The Thrift Shop holds monthly staff and volunteer meetings on the third Saturday of every month at 9:00 am in the Parish Hall.

The Thrift Shop maintains a small number of paid staff and a volunteer work force of fifty plus volunteers, consisting of a multitude of men, women and students from a large variety of backgrounds, talents and skills.  Volunteers can volunteer as much time and effort as they can provide.  There is no minimum or maximum amount of time required to be a valuable volunteer at Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop.  Volunteers can contribute as little as being a substitute volunteer on an "as needed" bases, to volunteering from one to several days a week or month.  Or they may find a particular talent or skill they enjoy doing at the Thrift Shop, such as at the sales counter, working on or displaying the merchandise, or helping the customers.

Every day is a "New Day" at the Thrift Shop and you will never know what you will find or who you can help.

We hope we will see you soon at the Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop as a Donor, Volunteer, Customer or a Recipient.

How Does Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop Utilize Its Income

The Thrift Shop's income is divided between three entities: Operational Expenses, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, and the Local Community.

Operational Expenses includes staff salaries and benefits, building maintenance, and supplies.

Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church includes support of the educational programs and special needs of the church.

The Local Community includes more than two dozen organizations who asked for and received assistance from the Thrift Shop.

The Thrift Shop Scholarship Fund & Recipients

The Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop's hard work and the generosity of donors help provide for an income sufficient to endow a program of scholarships to help low-income single parents upgrade their skills and knowledge for better employment to support themselves and their children.  Each year, we give two $1000 Scholarships and a third $1000 Scholarship given as a single Scholarship or two $500 Scholarships.  Many of the recipients enroll at Meridian Technology Center or Oklahoma State University.

The Scholarships are not tied to the tuition alone.  The Thrift Shop understands there may be related costs to their education, such as the costs of child care, transportation to and from classes, and related books and materials.

This particular program is one of The Thrift Shops favorites due to its immediate success in the changes in the lives of the recipients to provide for a better life for themselves and their families.

If you would like to contribute to The Thrift Shop Scholarship Funds, please contact The Thrift Shop.
